Sake Flight
First ever game jam!
Full screen recommended!
Tutorial reference in case you miss it in the dialogue! (In game reference coming):
- Sake recommendations are scored based on how well you match the prompt. Click and drag the bottle to the sake cup to fill it. But no wasting product! Once you pour, it's in there.
- If there are two cups, the client want to compare between the two! Either very similar or very different sakes.
- If there are THREE cups, then oooh baby, we got a Flight on our hands. There are many different kinds of sake flights but one of the most honored ways to do it is to tell a story with your flight. There's two "stories" currently supported:
- Light to Rich - start from a refined sake and transition to richer, more rustic ones as you got.
- The % value on each sake is their RPR (or refinement) where the % is the amount of rice grain left after refining. Therefore a low % means a VERY refined and light sake.
- Dry to Sweet - Start somewhere crisp and end in indulgence.
- A sake's sweetness is one of the stats on its card and ranges from -20 to +10 or so.
- BUT that's not the only thing that controls a sweet story! Acidity (score 1-3) often takes the edge of of sweetness. Fruity flavors might increase the sweet or juicy feeling. Crisp usually indicates a drier experience.
- Coming Soon: Cool to Warm
- Love hot sake? Me too! But that feature's going to take a bit more time since I'm going to have you chill or heat the sakes yourself!
Sources:
tippsysake - taught me a lot about what sakes is and all the different traits sake might have. I also used a lot of brands on that site as inspiration for my sake bottles! (though the stats are quite different)
- Peacock is based on Kikumasamune "Taru"
- Whale is based on Suigei "Tokubetsu Junmai" - though there are a LOT of whale themed-sakes
- Hummingbird is based on Kubota "Seppou" White
- Bonsai and the whole sticker system is based on tippsy's sake flight gift set.
- Beetle is based on Nanbu Bijin “Tokubetsu Junmai”
- Octopus is based on Yano Saga "Crisp"
- Bamboo is the last one I drew and wasn't really based on a specific one, more I wanted a muted, general one but I definitely used what I'd learned from drawing the other ones!
- Dragon is actually based off of the new guava vice flavor of Monster energy...
Claude.ai absolutely helped me learn Godot and figure out the mechanics for drag and dropping and the data structure for ranking sakes.
